It is not a difficult task to spot a person who possesses a lack of self-confidence.
It is noticeable in the way they present themselves, treat others, relate to others and act around others.
Such an individual may reflect lack of self-esteem in various ways.
It is important for someone with low self-confidence to recognize the problem so they may get the help needed to feel good about who they are and to be confident.
Oftentimes a person’s self appearance is a dead giveaway they may lack self-confidence. The person may have stopped caring for themselves as they had in the past. Perhaps they no longer have good hygiene habits, don’t dress appropriately and their mannerisms may become awful.
Eating habit may change as well. Some people become obese because they overeat to eat away their blues and others may not eat at all or eat less thus causing weight loss that is unhealthy.
Someone who no longer know their own strengths may not be able to do anything without support because they don’t trust their skills and abilities to perform certain tasks, projects, etc.
A person with a lack of self-confidence also endures mental and emotional challenges as well. A person lacking self-confidence usually becomes or has been sad and it may take a very long time for the individual to start seeing the brighter side of life.
The person may feel hopeless, disappointed, frustrated, etc. For some time and may require professional help from a counselor, social worker, minister or psychiatrist to find methods to feel hopeful and confident again.
Another good thing a person without confidence should do is to interact with people who are confident and have a positive outlook. By mixing with people like this, the individual will start picking up good habits and will be encouraged and inspired by those people.
Anyone who has not been a positive influence or also has low self-confidence should be avoided for awhile. It is almost vital to be in the midst of people who do have good self-confidence in order to personally grow.
Changes that will be noticed in a person who has picked up better confidence and self-esteem are things such as the individual will become more pleasant to be around.
They will strive daily to improve professionally and personally, will accept who they are and start healthy relationships with peers and others who have good self esteem to get through their lack of self-confidence.
A person who has a lack of self-confidence knows it but oftentimes will not admit to it and may even try to convince people otherwise. Sometimes a person who has bad self-confidence often comes off as very over confident but really may have no confidence at all.
It can be difficult for a person to improve their self-confidence, however with commitment and a true desire to change; anyone can gain self esteem although it may take a lot of time and energy.
