Better Attitude = Better Brain Performance

Better Attitude = Better Brain PerformanceWhat is your opinion of your mental capabilities? When asked if you think you are intelligent, do you answer with an affirming nod and a smile, or with a humiliated shrug “maybe”? In answering this question, it is important that you know there are many things to consider, and your tested IQ score is just one of those. The truth of the matter is that if your opinion of yourself as better, your brain will simply perform better.

Your outlook and perspective on things like this will actually impact the performance of your brain. If you truly believe that you are good enough, then your brain might start performing to the level of your expectations. Some think that basic intelligence never changes after childhood, but there are others who believe that psychology has a strong influence in this.

You may have heard of stories where the protagonist, who never gone to high school was able to work his way from rags to riches. He just used his raw instinct and determination to climb his way to the top. In childhood, he may have been shown that he can be as rich as anyone if he would only work hard for it. Because of this belief, he followed what he knew, and because he knew that he could be rich, he did work hard for it, and became quite wealthy. His outlook followed the reasoning that it was possible for him to become rich if others were able to do it.

He never received any money from his family or friends, and he never received any type of assistance as he worked toward his goal. But what he got from his friends was his expectation. If he never knew that it was possible to be rich, he would not have worked as hard to be where he is right now. He had a goal and all he had to do to reach that goal was to just work hard – and so he did. However, changing your behavior involves much more than just changing your mind – you must change what you believe.

Realize that your expectations of yourself can play a big role in your life. It serves as your ultimate motivation. It makes you really feel that your dreams are possible, something that’s within your reach if you just work hard enough. This is the unmistakable influence of psychology. If you really and truly believe that something is possible, just by thinking that you can think harder and learn faster, your brain might just do the same thing for you. We ultimately become the products of the mental images we form about ourselves.

When you view yourself with better perspective, then it’s time for you to be more aware of the things around you that can serve as evidence that your goal is within reach. After making use of all the positive affirmations in your life, you need hard proof. Record your progress regardless of whether they seem trivial or colossal. Focus on these developments and you will soon realize that the more you appreciate each and every small development, the more of them would soon follow.

So, when applying your brain development, if you think hard enough and truly believe deep down that you can improve your brain performance, your brain will soon begin to perform better. The improvements might not be as far-reaching as you expect, but there will certainly be some positive changes. Document each of these changes, and you will soon realize that the cumulative effect of every one of these small changes will amount to a big alteration of your brain functioning. Think of yourself as better and your brain will live up to your expectations.
