Health and FitnessBeing active makes a person healthy and strong. It is not just for people who have a weight problem but for everyone who likes to stay fit.

There is a lot a person can do such jogging or walking every morning, playing basketball or any other sport with friends.

People workout for 3 principal reasons;

1. The person is overweight and the only way to lose those extra pounds will be to reduce ones caloric intake and at the same time workout to burn excess calories.

2. The person is underweight and the only way to add extra pounds is to have more calories in ones diet and workout to bulk up muscle tissue.

3. The person enjoys exercising for fun and wants to keep in shape.

The best exercise plan should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises. This helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase ones metabolism and gain or lose weight.

Just like taking any medicine, you should first consult your doctor before undergoing any form of exercise or diet program.

Here are some benefits of exercising;

1. It is the easiest way to maintain and improve your health from a variety of diseases and premature death.

2. Studies have shown that it makes a person feels happier and increases their self esteem preventing them from falling into depression or anxiety.

3. An active lifestyle makes a person live longer than a person who doesn’t.

Generally, exercise can help you build up cardiovascular conditioning as well as develop your muscular endurance and strength. The following suggestions will help you understand several options that you can investigate in your quest for health and fitness.

1. Choose an aerobic exercise which you like and can be done outdoors like walking, hiking, running, soccer, tennis, or inline skating. Cardiovascular conditioning or aerobic exercises can help you attain a total body workout.

2. Either rent or purchase exercise videos. You can select from various types of videos, for example, a kickboxing video for stepping aerobics. This is less expensive compared to buying exercise machines and going to a gym.

3. Another method is mowing the lawn using a non electric push mower. You can also vacuum your carpets. If there is a snow in your pathways, then shovel it. Carrying your laundry basket filled with dirty clothes or handbags of groceries is also good. These simple household chores can give you some amount of exercises.

4. Turn on your radio, listen to your favorite dance music and groove away. This is one of the best ways of working out your body and is an excellent stress reliever.

5. Skipping rope is a very inexpensive way to get a few cardiovascular exercises.

6. Visiting local parks. Sometimes you can find fitness trails set ups that consist of exercise stations. More often, exercises instructions are provided. So, you will never be afraid to do some workouts.

7. Always eat a healthy diet. You should be aware by now of what a healthy diet is. You don’t have to be technical about your food preparation. With a little information about the different food groups and a little creativity in your cooking, you can provide yourself with a healthy meal every day.

8. From breakfast to dinner, make sure that you eat foods rich in protein like lean red meat, turkey, chicken, eggs, cottage cheese, and fish. Proteins are important for your body because this maintains your muscle mass. Muscle mass is an essential key to excellent health and/or fitness.

9. Fats can be very harmful to your body, but if you only eat the good fats in every meal, you’re on your way to a healthy and fit body. Make sure that stay away from saturated fats because it can do more harm to your body.

10. Daily exercise is important. It would be best to have your own exercise plan. You can start your exercise plan at about two hours for a period of five days. Try a lot of different exercises and just make sure that you use the proper technique.

Before you start any type of body workouts, keep these things in mind.

1. Any exercise program must be started in a gradual manner. Stretching is important for warming up your body in preparation for rigorous exercise. Your present physical condition didn’t arrive in that state overnight so be patient with your fitness regimen.

2. As much as possible, perform your activity for about thirty minutes each day every week.

3. Try cross training. You can alter the length and the type of exercises you perform to prevent boredom and injuries.

And again, make sure you first consult your doctor before undergoing any form of exercise or diet program.

A good diet should have the proper amount of food from all the food groups.

This is made up by two main elements. The first is carbohydrates. The food that a person eats should typically have plenty of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Much of this can come from oats, rice, potatoes, and whole grain cereals. The best source is still from vegetables and fruits since these have phytochemicals, enzymes and micronutrients that are essential for a nutritious and healthy diet.

The second is fat which can come from mono and poly saturated food sources rather than animal fats. Since fat contains more than double the number of calories in food, this should be taken in small quantities to gain or lose weight.

Another way to stay healthy is to give up some vices. Most people smoke and drink. Smoking has been proven to cause lung cancer and other diseases as well complications for women giving birth. For people who don’t smoke, it is best to stay away from people who do since studies have shown that nonsmokers are also at risk of developing cancer due to secondary smoke inhalation.
